As part of the event series “California Screening”, STATE OF THE ART presents films by Fabian Euresti (Los Angeles) and Arjuna Neuman (Los Angeles/Beirut).

Fabian Euresti EVERYBODY’S NUTS (2010, 13 min): In the San Joaquin Valley, agriculture and oil power the economy. In this forgotten landscape of central California, worlds collide.

Arjuna Neuman CAESIUM FOREST (2014, 12:30 min): “Caesium Forest” is a feature length documentary that participates in five different yet inter-connected relationships to technology. Each relation could be interpreted as a type of reverence—spiritual or scientific. The project starts with the atomic bomb and traces out a space shuttle’s retirement, Christian techno-music as worship, TED Talks, and returns to the government nuclear facilities of Oakridge.

The film screening is followed by a talk with the Berlin-based directors Dietrich Brüggemann and David Sieveking.
